"There was simply no grip out there today and this made life very tough indeed. It was always an ambitious target to prevent the Hondas from scoring points today and in the end, they took away what they deserved."

"The pace of the Jaguar was very good and I suffered no issues over the 73-laps apart from Ralf Schumacher!. For someone who is a lap down on the field, I cannot understand his actions today. He knew that Heidfeld and I were dicing for position over the last 15 laps or so and yet for some bizarre reason, theres Ralf trying to get between us. Not the most clever race craft but thats Ralf.
All the damage was done on Saturday. It made us compromise strategy, the start to the race and pretty much everything. We really paid the penalty today for not qualifying where we were capable of and had we of done so, Im sure wed have beaten the Renaults."

"As Rory Byrne was saying to me afterwards, its great to be back. Theres nothing like being away for a while to make you appreciate it. When people ask me why I like being in Italy so much, you just had to see the crowd at the end and see the joy on everybodys faces. I couldnt quite hold on to Raikkonen at the start but comfortably kept the other cars behind me. Raikkonen then started having a problem so we decided to pit a little but earlier. It was then a case of just holding out to the finish line and nursing the car home. I was changing early and lifting off by the end just making sure I could cruise to the finish."

"I did my best to keep up with Trulli in seventh place, but he just kept getting further and further away from me. Salo was then threatening me from behind and I kept my foot down and pushed as hard as possible. We did everything right this weekend from qualifying well to our race preparation and strategy. The car felt pretty good throughout the race and caused me no real problems."

"I had a misfire on about lap eight and then it just stopped. Its a shame because we found out what was wrong with the car last night and we fixed it. It was good in the warm-up and quicker than the guys in front of me in the race, so, very frustrated."

"That was a very difficult race which saw me suffer problem after problem. I got off to a pretty good start and after six laps, found myself behind Jenson Button who was obviously suffering from a problem. As I went to pass him, I buried the throttle and spun because of a failure with the traction control system. The spin forced me to re-join the race in 18th position but that wasnt the end of it. On lap 13, I suffered the same fate again and decided to switch the traction control off altogether. In addition to this, I was suffering from a general grip problem that seems to have plagued many drivers today. I like the revised layout of the Hockenheim circuit but the grip level has been poor all weekend."

"That probably looked a lot more spectacular than it actually felt from inside the car. All I remember feeling is that the rear of the car just snapped at what must have been around 310kph. Luckily, it happened at the best place to have a failure on this circuit and the car simply slid into the gravel. Up until that point, I was really enjoying the race and the charge towards Jenson Button in 6th place. I was catching Jenson and given that he had another stop to make, a precious point could have been possible here."

"The rain got worse and after about fourteen laps we had no choice but to pit and take the full wet tyre option. The grip level on the track was far from ideal and on lap 23 I lost it coming out of Stowe. The car spun completely off the track and buried itself in the gravel trap. Not the way to leave your mark on your home race, but with only eleven cars finishing the race today, it isnt hard to appreciate the challenges that everyone was faced with. Some got lucky, some didnt!."

"We did a good job to qualify 14th and given the high retirement rate today, we may have been at the back end of the points challenge. We have, however, taken steps forward in other areas during the course of the weekend and we will apply this towards our ongoing goal of improving the race car."

Qualifying
Eddie came third in Monaco last year, but hopes of repeating the performance were slim. Again the Jaguar struggled to find any pace and Eddie found himself being outqualified by even the Minardi of Mark Webber. 21st and practically last meant things were definitely not hopeful for the race.
Race
The Jaguar was better in race trim but once again the team had to make do with running at the back and hoping for retirements. Retirements there were and a good pit stop resulted in a 9th place finish for Eddie, but things are definitely not as they should be at Jaguar..

Post race quote
"Starting this race from the back of the grid is not something that normally rewards you with 9 th place and from that perspective we are pleased. Our race pace was reasonable today and the car felt much better than it has done all weekend. Scoring points would have been a very tall order today and getting two Jaguars across the finishing line is not bad when you consider that ten cars never made it to the end. Qualifying higher up the order would have certainly made a points chase possible, but until we correct some of the problems on the R3, it will remain a very tough challenge to fulfill. We have people working very hard towards finding a solution and in the meantime, we can only do our best on the race track and aim for the finishing line something that everyone worked very well at today."

It looks like Eddie is going to have to write off this year. The car badly needs some improvements and this showed in qualifying with Eddie only just managing to outqualify the Minardi's. 20th on the grid would be a difficult place to get any kind of result
Race
The Jaguar is able to run better in race set up, but it was luck that was making the most out of Jaguar's badly handling car. The deployment of two safety cars played into Jaguar's race strategy and Eddie was able to move up the field. At one point he was in 10th place, but his car proved unreliable and he failed to get to the end.

"The race was action packed, as I expected, I am pleased to hear that Sato is okay, it could have been a lot worse. The various on-track activities allowed me to be in 10th position at one time, which was encouraging. Our race strategy was good and even with the safety cars out it worked well. We very nearly got something out of nothing, and at one stage there was even the outside chance of aiming for a point."

Qualifying
Eddie Irvine has said that Jaguar wont be able to fix their aerodynamic problems until the British GP, so once again Eddie wasn't expecting very much from qualifying. However, Eddie managed to claim 15th spot on the grid much to his surprise. Unfortunately, Eddie learnt that his fuel he was using had become contaminated and the FIA took away his times and he would start last.
Race
Eddie found himself two places higher on the grid when the Minardi team withdrew from the race, but it was always going to be a struggle for Eddie. Eddie initially got past a couple of cars but the handling on the Jaguar was so terrible they were able to get past him again. Eventually Eddie's differential broke putting him out of the race. Jaguar will need to sort their aero problems soon if Eddie is going to do anything this season.

It was a bit of a waste of time. I passed a couple of cars, but they
overtook me again. I wasnt confident in the rear end of the car, and Pedro
lost it. I had the same thing and I just had to be careful. They were able to
get past me because you had to be cautious. In this car you brake and it wants
to swap ends. Eventually the diff broke. Its lucky it happened where it
did, because it saved me a long walk!

Qualifying
Once again Jaguar struggled to find any pace in qualifying and come the end of the session Eddie found himself down in 18th. At least he was ahead of his team mate.
Race
Eddie's race started ok but and he was pushing the R3 hard to make places up, however, the car is just not peforming and running heavy on the kerbs Eddie's driver shaft was broken putting an end to his race. Pedro de la Rosa retired with a similar problem. It's clear the Jaguar have got lots of work to do.

Qualifying
Having decided to keep the R3 for Brazil, Jaguar needed to work on the balance of the car. As qualifying commenced the team seemed to have managed to find some speed and both their drivers moved up the field. Eddie Irvine was once again outqualified by his team mate, but he was sitting happier in 14th spot on the grid come the end of the session.
Race
Starting from 14th on the grid Eddie needed to have good reliability to get to the end of the race and hope retirements helped move him towards the points. With new confidence in the car Eddie was able to have a satisfactory race. He managed to get the car home just outside of the points in 7th, but he was pleased that he had made progress with the car and was hopeful for the start of the European rounds beginning with San Marino.

Qualifying
Well it looks like Jaguar's season is going to be a tough one. Despite claiming some points in Australia, it is clear the Jaguar R3 is not performing. This was demonstrated in qualifying when despite Eddie's best efforts he only just managed to outqualify the Minardis and was 20th on the grid.
Race
Starting from 20th and having a terrible Jaguar R3 to contend with, Eddie's hopes for a points finish were non-existent. Eddie had quite a good race to begin with and he was moving up the field. Unfortunately Eddie's Jaguar developed clutch problems. He was pushing to make it to the pits but he miscalculated lapping Alex Yoong's Minardi and lost his front wing. The wing was replaced in the pits and Eddie rejoined in 11th, but the clutch problem was terminal and he retired from the race.

Qualifying
Poor weather caused problems for many drivers, but it appears that Jaguar's problems didn't lie with the weather at all. The Jaguar was very slow and the best Eddie got from the car before the session was effectively ended was 18th place.
Race
Eddie Irvine managed to avoid a huge crash at the start of the race caused by Barrichello and Ralf Schumacher crashing into each other. This put out half the field and massively improved Eddie's position in the race. A reliable race saw the Eddie get amongst 8 finishers and luckily was in 4th place. However, it appears that Jaguar have a lot to do on the car to get them competitive.
